Rafael is Pharmacist (Federal University of Minas Gerais, 2003), with previous experience in validation and quality assurance in pharmaceutical industry. He earned his master’s degree in Pharmacy (University of São Paulo, 2008) and his PhD in Chemistry (Federal University of Minas Gerais, 2013). After two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemistry at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, Canada (2015), Rafael joined this team as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Biochemistry. He has experience on synthesis of new compounds and their evaluation on in vitro and in vivo models of neurological disorders and neurodegenerative pathologies, especially Alzheimer’s Disease. Currently, he develops studies on in silico and in vitro screenings of new inhibitors of cysteine proteases.
